The "Mandate for Leadership Project 2025" outlines several changes that are likely to have significant impacts on marginalized groups, including poor people, women, non-white, non-heterosexual, and non-Christian individuals. Key areas of concern include:

1. Impact on Women

  - The plan proposes to rename the USAID Office of Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE) to the Office of Women, Children, and Families. It aims to refocus resources on these groups and eliminate gender advisors and points of contact within USAID.

  - It also suggests rescinding policies that address gender diversity and equality, including removing references to terms such as “gender,” “gender equality,” and “gender diverse individuals” from official documents and policies.

  - Additionally, the plan calls for the elimination of the promotion of abortion rights and controversial sexual education materials, which may affect reproductive rights and access to healthcare for women.

2. Impact on Non-White Individuals:

  - The project criticizes the current Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) infrastructure within USAID, claiming it racializes the agency and creates a hostile work environment for those who disagree with identity politics.

  - It recommends dismantling the DEI apparatus, eliminating positions such as the Chief Diversity Officer, and removing DEI requirements from contracts and grants. This could negatively impact efforts to promote racial equality and support for non-white communities.

3. Impact on Non-Heterosexual Individuals:

  - The plan expresses opposition to what it describes as the “bullying LGBTQ+ agenda” and proposes halting the promotion of DEI agendas related to LGBTQ+ issues within USAID.

  - This could reduce support and protections for non-heterosexual individuals within the agency and its programs, potentially leading to increased discrimination and marginalization.

4. Impact on Non-Christian Individuals:

  - While the document emphasizes partnerships with faith-based organizations, it is primarily focused on Christian values and traditional family structures. This emphasis could marginalize non-Christian individuals and organizations.

5. Impact on Poor People:

  - The focus on reducing federal involvement in social welfare programs and emphasizing personal responsibility could reduce support for poverty alleviation programs. This shift might exacerbate economic challenges for low-income individuals and families.

So, what do you have to lose? You stand the chance of losing democracy plus the right to be a full citizen with all the rights enumerated within the constitution and under state, local, and federal law. If you choose not to vote or you choose to vote for an independent, or you choose to vote Republican, it means the implementation of Project 2025 and the following:

  • The end of no-fault divorce
  • Complete ban on abortions without exceptions
  • Ban of contraceptives
  • Higher taxes for the working class imply additional tax breaks for corporations and the one percent
  • Elimination of unions and worker protections
  • Increase in the retirement age
  • Cut down on Social Security and Medicare
  • Elimination of the Affordable Care Act
  • Hike in the prices of prescription drug
  • Elimination of public education while using the funds for public or taxpayer-private religious schools
  • Mandatory Christian religious beliefs in schools
  • End free and discounted school lunch programs
  • End Civil rights and DEI protections and government
  • Ban African-American and gender studies at all levels
  • Ban books and curriculum about slavery
  • Climate protection and increased Arctic drilling
  • Deregulate the big business industry
  • Promote and expedite capital punishment
  • End of marriage equality
  • Condemnation of single mothers while promoting only “traditional families”
  • Defund the FBI and Homeland Security
  • Use of the military to break up domestic protest
  • Mass deportation of immigrants and use of incarceration camps
  • The end of birthright citizenship
  • Ban Muslims from entering the country
  • Eliminate federal agencies like the FDA, EPA, NOAA, and more
  • And they will continue to pack the Supreme Court and lower courts with right-wing judges

Overall, the "Mandate for Leadership Project 2025" proposes significant policy changes that could adversely affect marginalized groups by reducing support for gender diversity, racial equality, LGBTQ+ rights, and social welfare programs.

Vote! The future is depending on you.

Let’s be honest—Easter, for many, has become just another holiday on the calendar. Bright pastel ads, last-minute retail runs, and overflowing candy aisles often drown out the deeper meaning of the season.

Some people leave a mark on your organization. Others leave a mark on your heart. Pastor Ricky D. Floyd did both. It’s hard to put into words what this man meant to me, to Kings & Priests, and to so many others who were blessed to cross his path.

I was seven the first time I hid a crack pipe. It was used, still warm, and I slid it under the big blue sectional before my big brother could open the door. He was at the front, shaking. “My mom said not to let anybody in,” he kept repeating.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and an opportune time for us to examine where we are as a people as well as a church when it comes to the stigmatization that continues to follow this critical area of our well-being. While society overall has begun trending toward more awareness, there has not been that same movement in churches, especially congregations that are historically houses of worship for people of color.

Marriage is ministry. It’s not about who leads, who follows, who talks louder, or who works harder. It’s about two people walking in agreement under God’s covering, carrying the weight of life together, and building a love that honors the Lord.

When most people think of the Prison Ministry, they think of going inside the correctional facilities. That is my passion, and I’ve done it for forty-seven years; however, I realize that other people find going into a facility intimidating.

To everything, there is a season. As one season comes to a close, another begins. Just as Moses passed the mantle to Joshua, I am honored to pass the mantle of leadership to Evangelist Leandra Green as the new pastor of Believers Temple Word Fellowship.
