This Month in Black History we Honor the Life and Legacy of Dr. Frederick K. C. Price

Throughout our nation, we celebrate Black History Month, we recognize the transformative impact of a great individual whose legacy transcends time and continue to inspire future generations. Dr. Fred Price's life and work have left an indelible mark on the Black community and the broader landscape of faith, leadership, and achievement, as well as, undeniably and remarkably, the Kingdom of God.

Dr. Price married the former Betty Ruth Scott, whom he met while attending Dorsey High School in 1953. They had five children (one child died during childhood). Today, his grandson, Allen Crabbe, is a professional basketball player.

Fred Price Jr. succeeded his father as pastor of CCC.

Dr. Fred Price's journey is a testament to resilience, faith, and the power of vision. From humble beginnings to becoming one of the most influential pastors and leaders in the nation, Dr. Price's unwavering dedication to his calling has shaped countless lives. His work as the founder of the Crenshaw Christian Center in Los Angeles, California, exemplifies his commitment to uplifting his community, both spiritually and socially.

As the first African American to be featured on the cover of Charisma Magazine, Dr. Price broke barriers in the Christian world, demonstrating the depth and breadth of his influence. His leadership went beyond the pulpit—Dr. Price used his platform to advocate for education, self-empowerment, and unity within the Black community.

Dr. Price’s accomplishments are numerous, and a few are listed below by his Spiritual son, Bishop Charles Waters. A few stand out as symbols of his lifelong dedication to excellence and service. As a sought-after speaker, author, and teacher, he delivered messages that bridged cultural divides, encouraged personal growth, and expanded the horizons of those who heard him.

Dr. Price's accomplishments include the following:

Forty thousand members in attendance (in person)

Crenshaw Christian Center received Over one million in tithes and offerings WEEKLY (not including mail in seeds, and ECT) there was no electronic giving back then...

Best friends with Bishop Blake from COGIC (bet you didn't know that… lol) hung out at the movies and all.

The Father of the Black WORD OF FAITH MOVEMENT, though ALL RACES followed him.

He wasn't into titles but was forced—in love—by his spiritual sons to be Affirmed an Apostle (he did more as a Pastor than others of hierarchy)

Loved and raised his kids

Absolutely relentless in structure and organization

NEVER EVER FOLLOWED TRENDS!

- REFUSE TO HAVE CHARISMATIC STYLE PREACHING IN HIS PULPIT... He told me to "Hang that up," the people won't change...lol...

- THE FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN PREACHER ON TV MAINSTREAM THAT IS, OVER FIFTY CONSISTENT YEARS!!!

- First African American Pastor with a lapel mic and Bible in hand walking and teaching on TV and in person.

Bishop Charles Waters shares also Dr. Price taught to follow excellence and not TRENDS.... THEY DON'T LAST! (Bishop Waters proclaims) I'm still learning... His voice still speaks!

His groundbreaking work in The Word concerning prosperity focused on the alignment of faith and financial success, which sparked global conversations about how faith can empower individuals to thrive, not just spiritually but economically. His legacy as an educator and mentor remains as strong as ever, with a new generation of leaders continuing to carry the torch of his teachings.

Even after his passing, Dr. Fred Price’s influence remains alive through the institutions he founded, the lives he touched, and the community he built. His teachings continue to inspire pastors, business leaders, and individuals who strive to live with purpose and power.

We thank God for His servant and great leader in the person of Dr. Frederick K.C. Price and for the selflessness he showed in pouring throughout his life for the sake of the kingdom. We celebrate his life and legacy this month in black History!
